Alternative Access

Rev Now is built to survive censorship. If our main site ever goes down, you'll still be able to listen.

A journalist makes their final broadcast from a destroyed studio — the data is already replicated across IPFS nodes

Start Here — 3 Things You Can Do Right Now

Even if you're not technical, these three steps take under a minute and ensure you never lose access.

  1. 1

    Bookmark this page

Save revnow.earthalliance.news/access to your bookmarks. It lists every way to reach us.

  2. 2

    Subscribe via RSS

Add our RSS feed to any podcast app (Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, etc.). Once episodes download to your device, they're yours forever — no website needed.

  3. 3

    Save our backup links

Scroll down for Tor and IPFS links. Screenshot or copy them somewhere safe — they work even if this domain disappears.

revnow.earthalliance.news

Our main website. Fast and reliable, but since it depends on a domain name and hosting provider, it could theoretically be taken down by outside pressure. That's why we have backups.

Decentralized Backups

What is IPFS? A peer-to-peer network for sharing files. Instead of being stored on one server that can be shut down, content is spread across many computers worldwide. As long as at least one computer has a copy, the content stays available.

We publish the entire Rev Now site and all episodes to IPFS. Once our IPFS address is live, you’ll be able to paste it into any of the gateways below to access everything — no domain name required.

Our IPFS Address

Will appear here after first IPFS deployment
  1. Copy the IPFS address from above
  2. Paste it into any of these free gateways:
    https://dweb.link/ipfs/[address]
    https://ipfs.io/ipfs/[address]
    https://gateway.pinata.cloud/ipfs/[address]
    https://4everland.io/ipfs/[address]
    https://nftstorage.link/ipfs/[address]
  3. Or install Brave Browser, which has built-in IPFS support — just type ipfs://[address] in the address bar

Regular IPFS addresses change every time we publish new content. IPNS gives us a permanent address that always points to the latest version — like a bookmark that auto-updates.

What is Tor? A free tool that lets you browse the internet anonymously. Tor routes your connection through multiple servers so no one can track what you're reading. We run a special Tor address (called a “.onion site”) that can't be blocked through normal takedown methods.

Our .onion Address

http://skjzt3gxou72r2piosf5sfvwvxavxspjtxo5d4d7yki5xsrrd3czqcad.onion
  1. Download Tor Browser — it's free and available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android
  2. Open Tor Browser (it takes a moment to connect)
  3. Paste the .onion address above into the address bar

Heads up: Tor is slower than regular browsing (expect a few extra seconds). Audio may buffer more. We serve a lightweight version optimized for Tor.

Every person who pins our content on IPFS makes Rev Now harder to take down. It only takes a few minutes and uses about 50-100 MB of disk space.

  1. Install IPFS Desktop — download from docs.ipfs.tech (free, works on Mac, Windows, and Linux)
  2. Open the appand wait for it to connect (you'll see “peers” appearing — those are other IPFS users)
  3. Pin our content— in the app, click “Import” → “From IPFS”, then paste our IPFS address from above
  4. Keep it running— as long as IPFS Desktop is open, you're serving Rev Now to the world

Terminal alternative: ipfs pin add --progress [CID]

Audio episodes have their own IPFS addresses — pin those too if you have the bandwidth. Every pinning node strengthens the network.

If Our Domain Goes Down

  1. Check your podcast app — if you subscribed via RSS, your downloaded episodes are already safe on your device
  2. Try our IPFS links — use any gateway above with our latest content hash
  3. Try our Tor address — paste the .onion address into Tor Browser
  4. Check Earth Alliance channels— we'll post updated access instructions on partner sites
  5. If you pinned our IPFS content — you already have it. Share the links with others!
